For the people who haven't seen the first film, they mention his name a lot in the trailer so that you get to know of the main characters and who to look out for, this gives the audience member the knowledge for when they actually go to watch the film. The target audience is aimed towards people who like action films and lots of violence, this is clear in the trailer because of the amount of action they put in. Mission Impossible is quite a similar film to Jack Reacher as they are both action films and is about a single person trying to take down the enemy using creative ways.
